Our baby class is fondly called Shammah (God is with us, drawn from Ezekiel 48:35). The class is for children aged 2.6 years to 3.5 years. Note that this is the age range for admission to the class and the infants graduate from Shammah at different stages depending on their individual progress.
A typical day in Shammah involves morning devotion, our spiritual and educational morning circle, before the children are involved in physical activities indoor and outdoor, where we sing nursery rhymes and play various games. Our curriculum emphasizes learning through play, and this is how infants learn best.
The colorful toys available set the pace for the activities like shading, tracing, writing, counting and reading. Shammah infants are introduced to three letter words as they express themselves to friends and people they meet on a daily basis, thus increasing their vocabulary and understanding of God as their creator. We are always excited about our delicious and nutritious meals since the school offers a balanced diet to build our bodies.
Afternoons are an adventure in the outdoor play area on the swings and slides. And after all the physical activity and interaction, it is time for a well-deserved nap. The children awake to a shower, and healthy snack of seasonal fruit and juice as they wait for the parents to pick them up or the school van to drop them home!
